PEM electrolyzer cell stack is the core component of the electrolysis system (EL) that uses water to generate hydrogen and oxygen.The PEM water electrolysis cell adopts a proton exchange membrane to isolate the gas on both sides of the electrode, avoiding the disadvantage of easy permeation of the membrane gas in alkaline electrolysis hydrogen production.

More Introduction

The PEM electrolyzer cell stack uses solid proton exchange membrane PEM as the electrolyte and pure water as the reactant. Due to the low hydrogen permeability of PEM electrolyte and the high purity of generated hydrogen, only water vapor needs to be removed, resulting in a simple process and high safety; The electrolytic cell adopts a zero spacing structure with low ohmic resistance, significantly improving the overall efficiency of the electrolysis process and making the volume more compact; The pressure regulation range is large, and the hydrogen output pressure can reach several megapascals, adapting to the rapidly changing renewable energy power input.

The main structure of the electrolytic cell is similar to that of a fuel cell stack, which is divided into membrane electrodes, plates, and gas diffusion layers.
The anode of the PEM electrolytic cell is in a strongly acidic environment (pH ≈ 2) with an electrolysis voltage of 1.4~2.0 V. Most non precious metals will corrode and may bind with sulfonic acid ions in the PEM. Thereby reducing the ability of PEM to conduct protons.So our PEM cell use precious metal.

PEM film products include DuPont’s Nafion series film, Dow Chemical Dow series film, Asahi Nippon Corporation’s Flemion series film, Asahi Chemical Corporation’s Acplex-S series film. And Deshan Chemical Corporation’s Neosepta-F series film.Our used membrane is Dupont Nafion ion exchange membrane.
