Education fuel cell

Education Fuel cell are electrochemical devices capable of converting the chemical energy of hydrogen and oxygen into electrical energy without pollution and emission of harmful substances. PEM-type fuel cells consist of two electrodes, linked by a polymeric membrane.

Gaseous hydrogen is sent to the anode of the membrane, air is sent to the cathode, the hydrogen atoms are stripped of electrons on the anode side, and the positively charged protons pass through the membrane to the cathode. In order for this reaction to take place, a platinum catalyst is used. Hydrogen electrons travel from the anode to the cathode through an external loop, creating an electrical current where the electrons, protons, and oxygen in the air combine to produce water.

Structure of proton exchange membrane fuel cell teaching aids


The fuel cell teaching aid mainly consists of four parts: A hydrogen generating bottle, B is hydrogen fuel cell module, C is voltage and current meter,D is a fan.

The use of teaching aids for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

  1. Place each module in the appropriate position according to the diagram.
  2. Connect the interface between the hydrogen tank and the fuel cell using plastic pipes.
  3. Add hydrogen storage magnesium particles to the hydrogen tank
  4. Connect the positive and negative electrodes of the fuel cell to the instrument positive and negative electrode modules using wires
  5. Add pure water to the small bottle, and the battery generates electricity to rotate the fan. Colleagues observe the changes in current and voltage on the voltmeter

Precautions for Education fuel cell

  1. Do not apply external voltage to the voltage output terminal of the power generation battery module.
  2. After using the power generation battery module, store it in a self sealing bag.
  3. Short circuit operation cannot be carried out for a long time. Short circuit operation can be carried out instantaneously.
